Travel accident insurance


If you are claiming under your travel accident insurance, please note the following:

  • In the event of an accident, a doctor must be consulted immediately.

  • The accident must be reported immediately to HanseMerkur Travel Insurance.

  • An accident resulting in death must be reported to HanseMerkur Travel Insurance within 48 hours, even if the accident itself has already been reported.

  • If HanseMerkur cannot be reached, the accident must be reported immediately to the Emergency Service on +43 1 315 2444

  • Copy of the booking confirmation from the organiser
  • Copy of the insurance certificate
  • To transfer any refund amount, please provide the recipient's bank details (IBAN and BIC for international transfers)
  • Note for payments outside the SEPA area: ABA/Branch Code, Routing No and Swift Code required
  • Address details of the policyholder
  • All original booking and cancellation documents
  • Original proof of paid costs

  • Copy of the insurance certificate
  • The bank details of the recipient for payment of any compensation (for foreign transfers, the IBAN number and the BIC code)

In the event of a claim, we generally require the following documents from you:

  • Copy of the booking confirmation from the organiser
  • Copy of the insurance certificate

  • Address details of the policyholder
  • Addresses of all parties involved
  • If possible, a cost estimate and proof of purchase in the event of material damage

Please also note:

  • In the case of liability claims, under no circumstances should a debt be recognised to the injured party
  • The names and addresses of claimants and witnesses must be noted down
