Emergency

In the event of an emergency during your trip, please contact our

International health insurance:

  • If return transport to the home country is necessary.
  • If you need information about medical care options.
  • If you are being treated as an in-patient and need support in transferring information between doctors at your holiday destination and your GP, or you would like to inform your relatives.
  • If extensive diagnostic and therapeutic measures are to be carried out.

Emergency insurance:

  • If a patient transport from Austria or from countries bordering on Austria is necessary.
  • If you need a loan due to theft, prosecution or threat of prosecution.
  • If you need help organising your return transport in the event of a trip being curtailed, or if there is significant damage to your property at home.
  • If, in the event of loss or theft, contact is to be made with your house bank or a loan is to be transmitted.
  • If repatriation has to be organised in the event of death.

Vehicle assistance

  • If you need help at the scene of an accident or breakdown

Travel accident insurance

  • Seek medical attention immediately in the event of an accident
  • Report the accident immediately to HanseMerkur Travel Insurance

Travel liability insurance

  • Do not under any circumstances acknowledge guilt vis-a-vis the injured party.
  • Make a note of the names and addresses of claimants and of witnesses.

The 24-hour emergency call service advises you on the choice of hospital, organises a necessary ambulance transport or provides assistance within the framework of the emergency insurance.

Our tip: Make a note of the number + 43 1 3152444 or save it in your mobile phone before you start your journey. In your insurance confirmation (for most health insurance policies abroad) you will also find a small card to cut out with all the important information.

The European Union (EU) is an association of 27 member states. Members are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom. In contrast, Europe is a continent that includes other states or territories of other states.

The scope of "Europe" in travel insurance also includes African and Asian countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. The following countries and territories are included:
